Global Esports Removes Female Valorant Player Baila for Account Sharing

Indian esports organization Global Esports is one of the few organizations from the country to field a complete female Valorant roster called Global Esports Phoenix and compete in the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) 2023 Game Changers APAC (Asia Pacific), which is a grassroots competitive circuit for women.

The team was successful enough to qualify for the regional finals called VCT 2023 Game Changers APAC Elite, cementing a spot for itself after fighting through three challenging open qualifiers.

Surprisingly, one of their main players Abisha "Baila" Joseph who had been with the team since the start has been removed just three days after the team managed to qualify.

In a personal public statement, Rushindra Sinha - CEO of Global Esports, shared that the reason behind removing Baila from the team was that she was found guilty of Account Sharing for the second time.

Riot Games has clearly stated in its Terms of Service (ToS) that Account Sharing is wrong and players should strictly refrain from it. For regular Valorant players, it is something that can result in temporary or permanent account bans due to activities like account trading, elo (Rank) boosting, using hacks or cheats, and different types of scams.

These rules are all the more stringent for professional players who keep their main accounts well-guarded because they are very closely linked to their career.

In Baila's case, it seems that the player was found guilty of sharing her main Valorant account not once but twice. The first instance was in April 2023 just one month after joining Global Esports Phoenix for which she received a warning, and then again in July 2023 which resulted in her departure from the team.

No statement from her side has been made regarding the situation, but Rushindra did go on to share the reason behind the departure while adding that Baila acknowledges her mistake and will be working towards ensuring that she does not breach Riot's ToS in the future.

Global Esports Phoenix has qualified for the VCT 2023 Game Changers APAC Elite by attaining the last slot on the regional leaderboard. The tournament is scheduled to take place sometime in October 2023 which gives ample time for the team to find a replacement and prepare.
